Our adventure today took us to Bad Sobernheim, Germany. Bad Sobernheim has an awesome barefoot path called Barfuspad. Did you know the soles of the feet have 200,000 nerve endings? Yep, we got the soles of our feet massaged today. The path is just a little over 2 miles long taking you over woodchips, rocks, stones, through mud, water and ends off with a 130 foot suspension bridge over the river. This wasn’t the first time we went to Barfuspad. We went in 2010 when Grayson was about Greer’s age and have been waiting on warmer weather so that Greer could experience it too. The boys got unbelievable muddy, but we rinsed splashed off most of the mud in the river. I can not wait to go back. If you are ever in Germany I highly recommend Barfuspad. Wear your yucky clothes, pack a lunch, hop in the car, and just go. Bad Sobernheim is about an hour from Kaiserslautern, so it’s a great little day trip.
Warning: Stay away from this grass
It has stinging hairs and will leave ant bite like stings if you touch it. Its gotten us several times but today Grayson was its victim
He took it like a champ though, much tougher than I was when it got me a few weeks ago.
- Look at them all clean
- running in the wood chips
- massaging my feet
- Now we get dirty!
- muddy water
- Grayson loved the muddy water
- A family of muddy feet
- Jump! Jump!
- now we’re dirty
- Slippery mud
- cartwheel!
- Look, Mommy, a bug!
- lady bug
- walking on corks
- blue heron
- He’s so happy
- Grayson just splashed me big time
- So I splashed him back
- Stop splashing me!
- Greer giving me snuggles
My camera died after the last picture so I didn’t get any of the suspension bridge, but go check it out for yourself! Have an awesome weekend!
A collage of our Barfuspad visits in 2010 and 2012. The boys were both around 16 months. I was pregnant with Greer in 2012

You guys go on some awesome adventures. The ‘snuggles’ picture is so adorable to me!
The kiddos are much happier out and about than cooped up in the house. Greer is my snuggle-bug
I thoroughly enjoyed the slideshow of this beautiful family! The boys are delightful and so handsome. The mom isn’t chopped liver either!
Thanks for the virtual day outing!

Thanks for stopping by and for the lovely compliments
I agree with WL. The snuggles photograph is a classic.
What a lovely, fun place to go — a treat for the feet. I think the “grass” you warned us about is probably the stinging nettle, edible once cooked, but not fun to encounter raw.
Looks like fun for everyone and I bet the children slept good that night.
